The Lighthouse – Dahab
The Lighthouse is a super cool dive in the heart of Dahab, it’s possible to do anything from discovery dives to Deep specialties here, plus, it’s only a short walk from Sea Dancer!
DAHABI MERÜLŐHELYEK
The Lighthouse
At the sheltered, northern end of Dahab bay, the Lighthouse reef, with its gradually sloping sandy bottom, coral wall and deep pinnacles (and elephant!) the Lighthouse is not only a favourite for training, refresh dives and buoyancy checks, but fantastic dive site in its own right.
Heading out over the sandy bottom you arrive at the reef wall. You can follow this northward, or head a bit deeper where there are many large coral towers or “bommies” which are covered in corals and surrounded by abundant sea life.
Those who have only dived the Lighthouse during training should return and dive it again, it’s different at every depth and often completely surprises all that do it.
Turtles, Morays, large Napoleon and Eagle Rays are all seen here regularly.
In recent years some statues have been added to create an underwater ‘museum’ on the sandy areas to the south of The Lighthouse.
The most impressive of these is a massive Elephant that was assembled from old pieces of metal junk, it adds a truly surreal site to an already amazing dive site.
The Lighthouse is also where most of Dahab’s freedivers come to hone their skills and there are training lines just off shore to 20, 35 and 40 meters.
Note: don’t bother looking for a lighthouse, its set back away from the beach and completely outshone by the neighbouring mosque.
LIGHTHOUSE AT NIGHT
See underwater with new eyes and a dive torch. Discover what happens underwater after the sun goes down, the amazing world of night diving is waiting for you!
BUYONACY PARK AREA
Improving your buoyancy control skills is highly recommended. And nothing better to practice in the control environment than going through the hoops of Dahab’s buoyancy park.
