Camel Diving Safaris

Camel dive safaris a truly unique Dahab experience. In days gone by we could only reach Ras Abu Galum (RAG) by camel, these days, the Bedouins have mostly upgraded to speed-boats to get to RAG, which makes this trip even more rare and special.

Camel safaris can be done as a day trip or multi-day safari to get the full ‘Bedouin experience!’

We start at around 7:30am, collect our tanks and gear and head off by jeep for a 30-minute drive to meet with our transport for the day. At the end of the road we rendezvous with the Bedouins and their beasts. After loading up the camels, we set off. Ever seen a camel wearing scuba tanks? You will on this trip!

The camel ride takes around one and a half hours and as you meander along a stunning coastal path where the mountains meet the sea.

On arrival we take rest and refreshments in a Bedouin camp before we don our diving gear and enjoy some fantastic underwater scenery and wildlife.

There are many dive sites here including Ommayed, Koreimat, Haggar and Ras Abu Galum itself.

Lunch is made by the Bedouins in the traditional manner and on a day trip we make a second dive before packing up, loading up and heading back to Dahab in the early evening. We arrive home, tired, saddle-sore but having had a fantastic ‘Dahab’ experience!

On multi-day trips, we normally do a night dive before a delicious supper and bedding down for some well-earned rest. We rise with the sun for an amazing early morning dive, then breakfast and 2 more dives before mounting up for the journey home.
