The Caves – Dahab
If it’s the end of the road it must be The Caves! Jump in and explore!
DAHAB DIVE SITES
Caves
An impressive entrance through a wide corridor carved into a steeply sloping reef is a highlight of this dive site 15km south of Dahab. Further down you’ll find table corals and two enormous gorgonians.
The Caves is the most southerly Dahab dive site which can be reached by vehicle (from here on the options are boat or camel). Here, the mountains meet the sea in dramatic fashion. In fact, the mountains are so close and high that we need to dive here in the morning or else we lose the sunlight!
We always plan to dive here at high tide and calm conditions as the entry/exit point here can be very difficult in strong winds and low water
As with many of Dahab’s dive sites the name “The Caves” is not strictly accurate, rather they are imposing rock overhangs covered in soft corals, sponges and black corals. The topography here makes for some dramatic diving and exceptional photo opportunities.
This site is not an actual overhead environment so doesn’t require special training or equipment.
DEEP CAVES
With the PADI Deep Diver certification you can dive deeper in caves until 40m!
