Om Sid

Massive fan corals, large table corals and regular visits by big fish make of Om Sid a beautiful dive to the far south of Dahab

DAHAB DIVE SITES

Om Sid

An impressive entrance through a wide corridor carved into a steeply sloping reef is a highlight of this dive site 15km south of Dahab. Further down you’ll find table corals and two enormous gorgonians.

Om Sid is another less known dive site, partly because we need calm conditions for an easy entry and also there can be strong currents experienced here. For experienced divers and those comfortable with current Om Sid is a beautiful dive.

Upon entry we descend down the sandy slope to some impressive table corals which start at around 18 meters and turn north along a magnificent reef wall. For those with a deep diver certification we can venture down over the coral garden to a very large and impressive ‘Gorgonian’ fan at around 36 meters.

Among the many things of interest are the table corals, dwarf lion-fish, abundant soft corals and even the occasional Manta-ray!

Be careful to pay attention to the strength and direction of the current to ensure you will have enough air for the return journey.
