Mermaiding in Dahab

‘Mermaiding’ is a form of freediving at it’s most playful! If you can swim and are over 6 years old you can ‘discover’ what it means to be a Mermaid and if you can swim 100 meters and float for 10 minutes you can progress all the way up to ‘advanced’ Mermaid! (or Merman!)

Bannerfish Bay (right in front of Sea Dancer) with its easy entry, gentle sloping sea floor and amazing sea-life is the perfect place to transform yourself into a graceful, mythical sea-creature.

Under the supervision of your specialist mermaid instructor, you will learn simple breath holding and snorkelling techniques and then it’s time to get to grips with swimming with a mono-fin (trickier than you may think!) Once we have you swimming like a fish, we can don a fishy tail and swim freely underwater for some great fun and fantastic photo opportunities.

PADI Mermaid Student Levels

PADI Discover Mermaid Experience

Fun introduction to the mermaid activities in confined water, shallow enough in which to stand.
Duration: 1 confined water session
Prerequisites : none

PADI Basic Mermaid Course

Learn the fundamentals of mermaid swimming and breath-holding skills in a control environment.
Duration: 1 confined water session
Prerequisites : ability to swim at least 25m and float comfortably at the surface for at least 3 minutes.

PADI Mermaid Course

Add to the Basic Mermaid Course an additional session with more dynamic skills.
Duration: 2 confined water sessions
Prerequisites : ability to swim at least 50m and float comfortably on the surface for 5 minutes.

PADI Advanced Mermaid Course

Refine all the skills you master on the PADI Mermaid Course and elevate your experience to the open water environment.
Duration: 2 confined + 2 open water sessions
Prerequisites : ability to swim at least 100m and float comfortably on the surface for at least 10 minutes.
